Hi, I’m Kylee Dare,
Founder of Purposeful Leadership.
When I was the only female partner of a large corporation, I tried to “fit the mould” of the leaders around me. In other words “toughen up”. I was successful and I was at the pinnacle of my career, but it wasn’t authentic to who I wanted to be.
Then in 2011 I suffered an injury that left me permanently disabled and led to 8 years of debilitating pain, medication that impaired my cognitive abilities, and isolation. I hardly left my home.
After intensive rehab and having a spinal cord stimulator embedded in my spine in 2017, my capability began to return and I started to wonder what might be possible.
That’s when I received a knock on the door from my former Managing Director.
“We want you to come back to work as a Non-Executive Director.” I told him he was crazy, and it wasn’t possible. But that knock opened the door just a crack, enough for me to see light, opportunity and possibility. There was no looking back. I’d had a life-changing event that brought me clarity and a new perspective.
I’d been given a do-over, so how did I want to lead this time?
It was no longer about “toughening up”. My strengths were my courage, my empathy, passion and resilience.
Dare to imagine what's possible
I wanted to inspire and motivate others to dare to imagine what was possible; to find their vision for the future and pursue it, unapologetically, with perspective, purpose and clarity.
I officially returned to the workforce in 2018 and began co-facilitating a leadership development program focused on supporting more women into partnership positions.
In 2019 I began certification with the International Coaching Federation and in 2020 I officially launched Purposeful Leader to support organisations with the design and delivery of leadership pathway programs, to bring more “coaching culture” into workplaces everywhere, and to support individuals in maximising their personal and professional potential.
Whether you’re an organisation looking for leadership and executive coaching for your people, or an individual striving for more out of your career, I encourage you to imagine what’s possible with the right coaching support.
In fact, I dare you.
